After the success of Conflikt 16 theSGL have organised another Call of Duty 4 Tournament and this one is called Conflikt 17 and we have many teams from conflict 16 involved including the two finalists and some of the teams that were less successful. Obviously Team-CoolerMaster are going to be the team to look out for with a new line-up which is even stronger.
Team vesmi are also a team to look out for though the sniper biffziod going inactive due to technical issues they will hopefully find a new fifth. I think that Team vesmi will be a team to look out for because before Conflikt 16 they were a very newly formed team and should not be underestimated this time.
Teams such as Team Zetta return with a strong line up after losing in the semi-finals to Team Vesmi they return to play DestinyGirlz which will be a good game to watch as they come highly rated by TCM-Rapture. Also team Likearocket return after being knocked out by Team Coolermaster and this time they have another chance to prove themselves against Eye for an Eye eSports Association.
Team eXnet e-Sports Team return to conflict with another hard Match against Team Coolermaster after putting up a good fight against Team Vesmi and I would like to see how they will react to the challenge of TCM.
Also there are many more teams in the tournament that might show up the teams I have mentions so do not be surprised if Teams cause shocks.
Good Luck to all teams in Conflikt 17 and Enjoy the tournament - Please note we are playing MR12 this evening.
Another clutch of sixteen Call of Duty 4 teams are invited to show their prowess under fire in the upcoming confliKt17 one night stand.
We intend to produce a steady stream of these events on the run up to both the CGS CoD4 kick off event and our own bootcamp/party/event also to be held at the Omega Sektor in Birmingham over the weekend of 7th and 8th June. We have just added the Friday night as a full blown party night to this celebration of all things gaming which certainly sounds like it's going to be one hell of a night...
Back to the shooting however - confliKt16 ran smooth enough after we got past the first round, it is always a shame when teams registered to play simply don't turn up especially as there is very little we can doabout at the actual time.
So bearing that in mind guys we are looking for sixteen RELIABLE teams for this event. If you have any query on this event please contact an @ in #theSGL ( adam/uzi/jan_n3d/Blizzard best options).
theSGL cordially invites sixteen Call of Duty 4 teams to enter into a one night single elimination knock out event to beheld from 8pm on Thursday 1st May.
during the course of this one night cup we will see four rounds of action as first sixteen teams attempt to lock each other down on strike. The eight surviving teams will move on to crash where they will be whittled down to just four.
The semi final will be contested on backlot where the winners will face off on crossfire in the final match.
No surprises here with standard rules being applied and the mr10 (shorter format suiting the needs of a one night event) scoring system in place.
The first round of matches will be played on a teams own server to be agreed between the teams and the subsequent rounds then switching onto our very own high performance Dustworld match servers from the last eight teams and onwards.
The third week of tactical manuevering and execution of the opposing team with extreme prejudice continues as the teams march into and attempt to take control of Crash. Yes I know it says week four on the fixtures overlay (just as Vacant next week says week three - i wonder if you can work what I did there...)
In Group A the top two teams both have a tough match on their hands as rawkstar meet Team Coolermaster.UK and Tactical Nordic Team get down and dirty with the all new (with lemon fresh scent?) 4 Kings roster. With the top three teams already pulling away from the bottom three this could be a defining week for one of them and the results of these matches could go a long way to deciding the table overall. With TNT facing off with RAWK next week both teams will know that a win is a must if they are to keep the pressure on their peers. In the other match in the group *Veni Vidi Vici* and Global Warriors CoD4 will be hoping that the one of the top two teams gets a real pasting this week and next to give them (in the same way 4K will be hoping) a chance to get back into the fight. Top action all round in this group.
In week one One2 were quite rightly rather pleased with their win over Cube Gaming but it all appears to have been for nothing as the wheels have come off their team and the roster has disintegrated - as such all the teams in the group have received a default win from the now defunkt swedish outfit including CUBE themselves who I'm sure will be pleased to see three points in the table by their name as a result. Elsewhere in the group - CUBE take on the impressive looking station57 as the Fins look to make it nine points from three games and group leaders obscure-gaming wave the Hungarian flag against quality Czech fraggers nEophyte. Due to ONE2 folding of course ClanONE.cod4 have the night off.
HeXagon will be all out for another three points tonight to keep their perfect start to the season against dtekt eSports cod4 who's record thus far doesnt look great with a default loss and match to be played - not much to say there really. #nuc-stars need the win against envy-gaming to keep in touch with their Swedish counterparts and could well be expected to bring enough to the table to cause ENVY some problems. The teams it level on points and assuming HEX keep up their winning ways this could be a tie that goes a long way to decide second place. Last but not means least eximius:vir run into Curse Gaming in a head popping session that will either see the Polish team post their first points of the event or for the UK based Eximius to hit the six point marker.
Group D really is a case of the have's and have not's as the Hungarian one/two are joined by Poland all on played two, won two, six points each and thanks very much. Things will be split up a little this week however as second placed immortalis fight for their record against equally determined Team Without and group leaders ancients.CoD4 take on the point bereft but well regarded Animate Gaming. In the remaining group match Menace.fi COD4 and MEYEX.cod4 fight it out to get a win under the ir belts and to avoid going tino week four without anything to show for their efforts. With ANCIENTS playing WITHOUT next week these are two critical weeks especially for the Polish team. Time to stand up and be counted.
A reinforced concrete wall with "spikes on it". That's what was told would be needed to stop TEK9 Networks Ltd. in their tracks. Not being something available to their opponents tonight reprobates will have to rely on teamwork and making sure they don't make any mistakes. It's no secret TEK9 know what they're about and are likely to not only finish top of the group but also be there or thereabouts when the latter matches are played so the race here in Group E is for second place surely ? Big Fluffy Pigeons! find themselves three points off the pace and taking on Phonetic.Akasa who could easily stake a claim for runner up with a win in this tie. Finally the two most likely to come in second in Group E various5 and Microplay Gamers connect accross the expanse of Europe and test the COD4 netcode out with what will certinly prove to be above average pings - if anyone has a server in central Europe take pity on them and give them "server loan" for an hour would you ?
Nearly there now, Group F where we find K r u s h ™ Online Gaming Since 2000 and ThaKingZ sat comfortably on six points each and taking on team.intox and bloodyArmy respectively. Intox have already had it tough at the hands of KINGZ and things probably wont be much easier when they play KRUSH. Not a great deal that can be said for the chances for BLOODYARMY except that we very hope they will do us the honour of turning up. With only three players and their ever agreeable manager Chef on the roster it looks like the best option may be to assume TLR will nto be playing any of their matches will be a welcome three points for third placed In Phaze
And finally (congrats and thanks if you got this far through my ramblings) Flickshot. take the night off against World Online War (I'll go default their matches in a minute lol) Whch leaves team mah! (which wouldn't be a bad 1.6 team either juding by the roster) to turn their hard fought three points into six at the expense of TheGamesBrigade who despite being even on points at this stage did come by thos points by way of default and as such have still to prove their mettle on the (server) field of combat. Rounding off the whole shebang is Portugal versus Sweden where two more teams level on points look to gain the advantage as /<1ck eSports Club.pt face off against Najs Gaming.
To say it was the first week of fixtures for a new gametype here on theSGL I personally think things went as well as, if not better than expected with only (at this time of writing) three matches for the whole round left unplayed. Not bad odds overall and ones which I will be more than happy to repeat again this week.
Notable achievments on the past round must include the total shut out by Flickshot. in their 13-0 group stage win and ThaKingZ did almost as well as they dropped a single round on the way to taking their three point opening haul. TEK9 Networks Ltd posted a maximum points tally as they took an expected first match win in their tie whilst the match between UVM.Logitech and Animate Gaming went right to the wire with the Polish outift winning the vital extra round in the 13-11 war.
By their own admission last minute addition to the event station57 wer delighted by their smash and grab raid on high rollers nEophyte which saw the Finland team walk away with all three points after a 10-13 scoreline. They go on to meet up with fellow week one winners One2 on strike this week in what could well turn out to be a well contested fixture.
A reminder as well to everyone taking part, you must run the SGLac client for the full length of each match. We may not have rammed this fact home hard enough in the firts week so since only around half of all theplayers (at best) used the client we will let it go for the sake of the smooth running of the vent, this week however failure to use the SGLac client will be cause for fofeiture or a replay of the match in question at the discretion of the admin. (speaking of the admin - i will not be online until 8pm Uk this evening but I have asked the other admins to keep a keen eye on irc for any queries - don't be afraid to PM any/all of the ops in my absence).

Matches begin from tonight in this event and the long wait is finally over, the shooting is about to start...So have we gone mad? what did we change at the last moment? and where the hell did Group H go ?
There were a number of teams who only had a single registered player and despite our best efforts to poke them into life they steadfastly refused to sort themselves out. With this in mind we moved them all into Group H and moved the teams out from there to fill the empty spaces in the other groups. Once all the dead wood was safely in one place we hit them with an airstrike and wiped out the group entirely.
This means there are now only three slots in the league (the teams called "????") where there is no fixture. If any teams who wish to take these places - we will accept you as long as you get back to us on or before Friday of this week. After this point the teams in those slots will be considered as a default win for their opposition each week. As you probably just worked out this means we had eight groups with sixteen qualifiers now we only have seven groups with fourteen qualifiers - two teams short on the knockout stage. The other two qualifying teams will be the "best" two teams finishing in third place in their group ("best" will be directly decided by points or round difference in the event of a tie).
With these changes we ask that teams check their first fixture as there will be a handful who will now have different opposition to the team they thought they were playing. Apologies for any confusion this may cause but I'm sure you'll agree it is a much batter option than a dozen teams remaining in the event who don't look lilke they're going to take part.
To apply for one of the three slots remaining or if you have any query then please contact me (Uzi) on IRC #theSGL - good luck to all the teams taking part in what in what I'm hoping will be the prelude to some serious CoD4 action for high stakes here at theSGL.com !

Our first foray into Call of Duty 4 comes in the shape of this thirty two team tournament simply named "confliKt 32". It will take the form of eight groups each with four teams (the classic Champions League format) with the top two teams in each group going through to a knockout elimination cup format until onyl one team remains. Should we receive more than the base thirty two teams then we will organise a simple round of play off matches as some teams qualify for the right to join some of the bigger names in CoD4 in the group stages which begin Monday 4th February.
The first prize for this event is a thirty two slot public Call of Duty 4 server for a duration of three months courtesy of our title sponsors Dustworld. As stated above this is our first real look at CoD4 as we begin preparations for our main Summer event where we will once again seek to push forward the boundaries of online competitive play - this time in CoD4.
Our last Summer event saw one team walk away with £5,000 in cash and we want to make sure we are very much up to speed and fluent in all things the latest installment of Call of Duty 4 presents us with. For now however we cordially invite you to jump on board and get stuck in to this event and figers crossed it could be YOU walking away with three months worth of lightning fast public server at your disposal.
