So over the last five weeks T0by has been working hard to get the entire theSGL Champs league games played. With only two games outstanding (which will not affect the playoff’s) its time to move onto the business end of the league with the playoff’s.

These games will be played over the course of December with our aim to finish the tournament before the New Year. Again games will be BO3.

theSGL Season 15 for Counter-Strike 1.6

I have just looked through the fixture list and the amount of games which have not been played so far is ridiculous. Therefore I have listed all the outstanding games from week 1 to 5 teams have until 4th December to get these games played. I appreciate that I have reshuffled the league but it is starting to get stupid with the amount of games left. If any games are not played we will simply void them if there are constant offender as in teams not turning up to games we will default all there games.

theSGL Season 15 for Counter-Strike 1.6

After reviewing the league at its midway point, it has come to light that the three lower divisions have been struggling to get their games played. This may be due to some teams not showing up or teams simply folding. With the probability this will only get worse we have taken  measures to resolve the situation. Before we start with the changes - here is the reasoning behind them, theSGL has always been a league were we want teams to play their matches and have fun. As ever some players and teams have been happy simply taking defaults. This is not what theSGL is built on, we want as many games to be played as possible. We felt that in the lower divisions the teams which were turning up week in week out were just not getting a game - for example in Division four only four teams were playing their games.

So on to the measures wehave taken to maximise the activity of the season:

• *Invite and Premiership are not effected*
• 
  
• Division Four has now been deleted and all fixtures removed, the five teams which were turning up have now been moved up into Division Three.
• 
  
• The top three teams from Division three have moved up to Division two.
• 
  
• The two top teams from Division two have moved up to Division One.
• 
  
• The league has been extended by two weeks to allow for the teams which have been moved up a chance to replay their matches. All matches which were originally played by the teams which have been moved up should now be replayed.

We realise that for some teams this will be a inconvenience but the measures were necessary before defaults got further out of hand and matters got worse.

Please remember the tables will not update until a new score is entered so once you have replayed your games message Blizzard or t0by on the website and we will enter the correct score.

I am pleased to announce the groups and first weeks fixtures for theSGL Champions League. I would like to wish all the teams the best of luck and quickly run through some important points for the league.

Main Rules:

• You will have one week to complete your fixture this will be Monday to Monday teams may rearrange games with each other but we require you to do this on the match comment so we can keep track of which games are arranged for when.
• All games are on your own servers unless told otherwise, teams on the left hand side of the fixture will be known as the home team and will be expected to provide the server if there is no other server available however in all cases the most equal server for both teams should be used.
• All games are Best of three map games: Map choices, there will be 7 maps de_dust2, de_inferno, de_nuke, de_train, de_tuscan, de_mirage and de_forge the lowest seed will first eliminate a map followed by the other team eliminating a map, this carrys on twice until you are left with three maps. The lowest seed team will then pick the first map from the remaining maps and the other team will pick the second map from the remaining maps leaving the third map to be whatever is left.

theSGL Season 15 for Counter-Strike 1.6

So it begins, Sunday 16th will see the start of theSGL’s Season 15 but first of all you need to know who you will be playing against. Later today/tomorrow I will announce the Divisions and full fixtures on this news post. This procedure has been revised slightly with an influx of European teams entering the frame we originally said you must play 5 ladder games to enter we have waved this now. I understand a lot of teams have been playing the ladder games and it has been great to see the community pulling together, In addition to this also hope you will continue to play ladder games as this will be one of the ways to get into next seasons champions league. The ladder will be our first port of call when seeding the teams this I can guarantee.

Before we move onto the tables I would like to go over a few important rules:

• All games are on your own servers unless told otherwise, teams on the left hand side of the fixture will be known as the home team and will be expected to provide the server if there is no other server available however in all cases the most equal server for both teams should be used.
• Players must have net_graph set to 0 if you are found to have another setting you will be thought to be gaining a advantage and will be banned / suspended.
• Smoke screenshots must be taken before the game starts, the screenshot must include net_graph 3, Scoreboard and smokes. If a player leaves the game after the screenshots have been taken they must retake there smoke screenshot. These screenshots must be kept for the minimum of 2 weeks and provided when asked for by a admin.
• Players with timeleft on there account for the first week will be allowed to play but must stay on the team roster for the next 3 weeks if they are removed action will be taken by a admin.

Map rotation : Week 1: de_dust2, Week 2: de_nuke, Week 3: de_tuscan, Week 4: de_inferno, Week 5: de_forge, Week 6: de_train, Week 7: de_inferno

Tonight sees the start of theSGL Champions League qualifier 16 teams line up for the chance of playing in theSGL’s Champions League which was announced last week. Each night this week, teams will compete against each other to be included within theSGL Champions League. Sixteen teams will start off tonight with one or four (depending on other teams accepting there invite) of them being included into the League competition.

With the Zowie European challenge finally coming to a close this Monday or Tuesday it has become apparent that the desire to play CS1.6 from the European clans is still alive as ever. After speaking with a lot of the teams from the playoff’s the feeling was that the league simply was at the wrong time of year. With it being in the summer a lot of clan members had vacations, it was not ideal and that has been reflected in how long it has taken to finish the whole tournament. The most important element was to get this tournament finished however long it took so we can move forward and learn from the mistakes made in this tournament.

So moving swiftly on I am proud to announce the next event we have been working towards. theSGL European Champions League, this idea has come from Toby who has been in contact with a lot of the teams and discussing how they would like theSGL to move forward from the Zowie European Challenge. Aswell as the timing of it being more suitable for the clans with it being in the winter, there have been more changes.

• The league will be headed up by myself (Blizzard) and Toby, there will be no more half hearted admining the scores will be kept up to date and teams will be chased up to play there games.
• There will be Four League of Four clans (much like the football champions League) these will be seeded from four pots of teams. Reasoning behind this is to cut down on how long the season is.
• Each match of the league and knockout phase will be best of three and the maps will follow the rules and map list of ESWC to help clans which are involved practice.
• Games will be played on your own servers with the home team (team left of the fixture) supplying the server (unless otherwise agreed) and booking the HLTV.

This leaves four places, we understand three teams are currently reviewing whether they have time to compete and spaces will be left open for there decision. This leaves one place however if the other teams reviewing there time do not confirm it will leave more spaces.

So how do you enter and take one of the possible four spaces left. It is very simple all you do is sign up for and compete in the Champions League Qualifier which will run next week between 10th & 13th.

Looking to the future aswell the winner of Season 15 Invite will automatically qualify for the next European Champions League and the highest team in theSGL 1.6 Ladder at the time will also qualify if they wish to compete.

theSGL Season 15 for Counter-Strike 1.6

Right then so season 15 is due to start Sunday, however as there are only 16 teams which have played the right amount of ladder games, we thought we would give it another week. I must admit I am surprised at the amount of teams which have failed to play 5 matches in a month. I suppose it is the sign of the times. When you think about it 5 matches in a month is not a lot. For all those people preaching to us that you only play Sundays that does not cut as you have had at least 3 Sundays to get games played and show some willing.

Moving on the new start date will be 16th October with teams released next Friday 14th October. I have listed below the teams which have already been accepted and we thank them for playing there ladder games.

We will be only adding division if we get the correct number of sides for example if we get 8 more we will add a division, if we get 16 more we will add two divisions and so on.

Following on from the announcement of details regarding season 15 for Counter-Strike 1.6 I am pleased to open sign up. Teams may now show there intention of participating in season 15 by signing up here.

Reschedules are allowed however we request you arrange this with your opponent over the match comments.

Seeding will be taken from the ladder positions and online heroes participation.
