SteelSeries - King of the Hill - OVERVIEW

SteelSeries King of The Hill is an exciting competitive gaming format that places control of head to head matchups in the hands of the gaming communitiy. Paricipants play weekly or bi-monthly matchups for cash prizes and the right to crown themselves King of the Hill. Each second week a new challenger is selected by the gaming community during a 7 day vote via our site. Steelseries King of the hill is currently being played under the traditional CS 1.6, Max rounds 15, Best of 3 format.

What is King of the Hill ?

King of the Hill is a bi-weekly cash prize match played out between teams who you - the community vote to see fight it out in a Counter Strike 1.6, mr15 best of three maps fixture.

When is King of the Hill?
Every other Monday night is King of the Hill night with match coverage starting from 8pm.

How do we get into King of the Hill?
Simply apply to take part in the tournament and your team will be added to the waiting list. If you do not have a team yet then you can find details on how to register one on this page. You can apply directly to the event on this page. Entry into this event is totally free of charge.

How do you decide who plays in King of the HIll?
We don't - but you do! Every other week the poll on theSGL.com website will list a number of teams who are eligible to play in the event and whichever team wins the vote will play the current King of the HIll. For the first week of the event the top TWO teams as voted by you will play the match. The winner of this first match will be the "King of the HIll" and will defend their title the following match against the team the community decides will challenge them. The winner of each bi-weekly match will return to defend their title.

How do you get onto the voting list?
Eligible teams will be sorted into the queue by the order in which they apply. Every two weeks the top fifteen teams will be listed for the public vote. The team with the most votes will play in the King of the Hill fixture. The four teams with the next highest number of votes will remain in the voting list for the following round of voting and the ten teams with the fewest votes will go back into the queue.

How many chances do we get to take part?
As many as you want! Once teams have been through the voting process and not qualified either to play the King of the Hill fixture or gained enough votes to remain in the vote for another round of voting (see below) then the team may reapply to take part in the event at which time they will be added back into the waiting list in order of their new application date (the latest application will always be at the bottom of the list).

How long is King of the Hill scheduled to run for?
At this time the King of the Hill event is being run as an ongoing event with no scheduled ending date. Matches will be played bi-weekly until further notice.

VOTES TEAM
100 TEAM A
95 TEAM B
90 TEAM C
85 TEAM D
80 TEAM E
75 TEAM F
70 TEAM G
65 TEAM H
60 TEAM I
55 TEAM J
50 TEAM K
45 TEAM L
40 TEAM M
35 TEAM N
30 TEAM O
In the example shown here, fifteen teams have been put to the public vote. Team A will challenge the current King of the Hill in this weeks fixture. Teams B,C, D and E will be entered into next weeks public vote as the next four teams with the highest number of votes.

The remaining teams F through to Team O will be put back into the list of teams waiting for their turn to take the public vote. They will be added to the bottom of the list and will work their way up from there until they until they are eligible to face the public vote. Teams who enter who do not have the required five eligible players on their roster will remain in a pending list until their roster is brought up to requirements.

We will make the list for teams waiting for their turn to face the vote and the list of pending teams viewable so everyone can see how long they have to wait and when they will be due to be entered into the vote. We will update this list every Tuesday following the King of the Hill fixture. You can find the voting form for each week on every page of this website on the left hand side column. Voting ends on Saturday evening at midnight each week.

What is the schedule for King of the Hill?
King of the Hill follows a fourteen day format. The public vote lasts for seven days. Tuesday of each week to midnight on the following Tuesday, Each fixture is announced on the Wednesday and played on the Monday. The process then repeats itself.

What if one team dominates the event?
A team who win their  fixture and come back to defend their King of the Hill title are only able to do so for five consecutive weeks. Any team notching up five straight wins will be entered into the Hall of Kings. Teams who qualify for this Hall of Kings will be entered into a biannual event for a "significant" prize or even SteelSeries sponsorship. If fewer teams are promoted into the Hall of Kings than such an event requires then the community will be asked to vote on which other teams will join them in the event.

What is the prize for winning or defending the King of the Hill title?
The prize for winning or defending the King of the Hill title will be £100 (ONE HUNDRED). This prize will be payable directly to the winning team by SteelSeries as and when the team are knocked off the hill or after they manage five stright wins (eg the team will be payed £300 for three wins all in one go , not £100 every time they win)

What rules is King of the Hill played under?
The event is played under standard theSGL Counter Strike 1.6 rules and a best of three maps match format. Please see the event specific rules section for more details. For all players in all matches the use of SGLac is mandatory and not negotiable in any way.

Sounds orserm I'm guessing the KOTH changes after 5 wins or something like the American one? Else TLR will be there all year round lol
#10 | sgl Uzi | Posted on 25/03/08 11:21am
yup its all in there. they would be "discalifornication" after five wins. of course, you would have to vote them in there in the first place. The way I see it fiteen teams will be going around hassling you for your vote. Could be very entertaining !
#11 | sgl Uzi | Posted on 25/03/08 11:36am
Also - I know many of you don't read such large text blocks as that post. there is a KOTH forum with a sticky about the key facts. Read the big post first - make sure you understand by reading the forum too

Just a thought, you should make the voting only avaible to ppl in teams with a valid steam ID, or something. Otherwise i can see Jovan and co. making about 20accounts and voting for his team
