Cartography : Week Three

	The roar of jets. The sound of gunfire. The strange temple plonked in the middle of the map. It can only be one map, de_torn writes Nic Ever since I first played this map in Enemydown, I’ve had a soft spot for torn. Unlike the other maps that aren’t played a great deal, I really can’t see any reason why torn isn’t. Storm has disgusting textures, chateau is too open and I could go on. Torn however is like an awesome bastard offspring of tuscan and inferno. It has the tight backpath like Tuscan, combined with the streets of Inferno. The map itself has a middley bit, an eco rush bit, an awpy bit as well as some tunnels. Oh and some awesome boosts to boot. What’s not to like? Like fire, torn has the ability to be played in a number of ways. The CTs can play aggressively, holding up the alleys with rifles or middle via awping. They can hold passively as well, holding from the sewer bombsite or from in the temple. “But you can do that on any map!” I hear you cry. Well, yes. Torn however has a decent rotation layout, meaning CTs can very quickly and easily rotate to cover the other site. At the same time, the Terrorists have access to middle via the back and via a side door which when properly smoked means they can quickly get out of middle and rush the alternate alley with the broken balcony. Simple put, there’s a good amount of variation for both sides here. As I said earlier, I have a soft spot for this map and I’d like for it to be played more often but the chance of that happening is tiny. Perhaps we’ll see an Online Heroes of it in the coming weeks. Anyway, onto this weeks matches. Game of the week is an easy one between knowyourenemy and the interestingly titled keyboardonhead. Both sides are undefeated and providing there’s been a little preparation from both teams (which I doubt) we could see a decent tussle. I’ve heard KOH have had roster problems, but hopefully they’ll be okay to play tonight. Failing that match taking place, I’d recommend FlavouR versus TheGunShow. I’m hoping sicKboy-_- is putting his years of CS skills to good use and has created some tactics for this map. Of course, he could have been too busy on UKCT abusing the SGL but who knows. It should be a good game nonetheless.
