SteelSeries - King of the Hill - OVERVIEW

SteelSeries King of The Hill is an exciting competitive gaming format that places control of head to head matchups in the hands of the gaming communitiy. Paricipants play weekly or bi-monthly matchups for cash prizes and the right to crown themselves King of the Hill. Each second week a new challenger is selected by the gaming community during a 7 day vote via our site. Steelseries King of the hill is currently being played under the traditional CS 1.6, Max rounds 15, Best of 3 format.

What is King of the Hill ?

King of the Hill is a bi-weekly cash prize match played out between teams who you - the community vote to see fight it out in a Counter Strike 1.6, mr15 best of three maps fixture.

When is King of the Hill?
Every other Monday night is King of the Hill night with match coverage starting from 8pm.

How do we get into King of the Hill?
Simply apply to take part in the tournament and your team will be added to the waiting list. If you do not have a team yet then you can find details on how to register one on this page. You can apply directly to the event on this page. Entry into this event is totally free of charge.

How do you decide who plays in King of the HIll?
We don't - but you do! Every other week the poll on theSGL.com website will list a number of teams who are eligible to play in the event and whichever team wins the vote will play the current King of the HIll. For the first week of the event the top TWO teams as voted by you will play the match. The winner of this first match will be the "King of the HIll" and will defend their title the following match against the team the community decides will challenge them. The winner of each bi-weekly match will return to defend their title.

How do you get onto the voting list?
Eligible teams will be sorted into the queue by the order in which they apply. Every two weeks the top fifteen teams will be listed for the public vote. The team with the most votes will play in the King of the Hill fixture. The four teams with the next highest number of votes will remain in the voting list for the following round of voting and the ten teams with the fewest votes will go back into the queue.

How many chances do we get to take part?
As many as you want! Once teams have been through the voting process and not qualified either to play the King of the Hill fixture or gained enough votes to remain in the vote for another round of voting (see below) then the team may reapply to take part in the event at which time they will be added back into the waiting list in order of their new application date (the latest application will always be at the bottom of the list).

How long is King of the Hill scheduled to run for?
At this time the King of the Hill event is being run as an ongoing event with no scheduled ending date. Matches will be played bi-weekly until further notice.

Teams who enter who do not have the required five eligible players on their roster will remain in a pending list until their roster is brought up to requirements.

We will make the list for teams waiting for their turn to face the vote and the list of pending teams viewable so everyone can see how long they have to wait and when they will be due to be entered into the vote. We will update this list every Tuesday following the King of the Hill fixture. You can find the voting form for each week on every page of this website on the left hand side column. Voting ends on Saturday evening at midnight each week.

What if one team dominates the event?

Any team notching up five straight wins will be entered into the Hall of Kings. Teams who qualify for this Hall of Kings will be entered into a biannual event for a "significant" prize or even SteelSeries sponsorship. If fewer teams are promoted into the Hall of Kings than such an event requires then the community will be asked to vote on which other teams will join them in the event.
