SteelSeries - King of the Hill - FAQ

Q: Is this tournament free? Who can enter, and what prizes are up for grabs?
A: Yes, this tournament is free. Each Voting Week, teams will be listed on www.theSGL.com to be voted on by the community. This is a popular vote, so rally your supporters (friends, family, and allies) to help your team get voted into a King of the Hill match-up! All it requires is that you register via theSGL website. There is a weekly cash prize of £100 (one hundred) for whichever team is the King of the Hill for any given week.

Q. What is a "Voting Week"?
A. During Voting Week 1 the community select teams from a list that they'd like to see participate in a single match the following week. The two teams with the most votes (Week 1 only - subsequent weeks will see the defending King of the Hill take on the challenger to their crown) will be placed into a head to head matchup the following week. The remaining teams with Top 5 standing on theSGL.com poll will stay up for another week of voting during Voting Week 2. The bottom teams in the vote standings will be relegated to the Voting Queue. The length of the queue will determine how long before those teams are up for vote again. Everyone gets a chance to be voted upon--all it takes is votes!

Q. What is a "Match Week"?
A. Match 1 will take place the Monday after Voting Week 1 closes. The winner of each SteelSeries King of the Hill Match Week will take home £100 (one hundred) cash, be crowned the SteelSeries "King of the Hill", and will stay up to face a new challenger selected by the community during the next Voting Week. The loser will go to the bottom of the Voting Queue, along with that Voting Week's bottom ten teams. The following Voting Week 2 will begin on theSGL.com. New teams will be added to fill in the 15 slot voting pool alongside the previous Voting Week's survivors, and a new challenger will be selected by the community to face the current King of the Hill. This process will continue indefinitely (for now), and every  week a match will be played for £100

Q: What is the default match day and time?
A: The default match time is Monday at 20:00. If the defending King of the Hill are unable to defend their title at match time then two teams will be chosen from the voting results to take part in the tie. Should a challenger be unable to play their match then the team with the highest number of votes who is able to fulfil the fixture will be added in their place.

Q: What is the competition format?
A: This is a Counter-strike 1.6 tournament, where the community votes on teams every two weeks for £100 cash in a winner takes all, Maxrounds 15, Best of 3 format.

Q: Where can I find a full rules listing?
A: You can view the full King of the Hill Format and Rules pages from tabs above (overview/rules)

Q: Ok I'm signed up, but when do I play my match?
A: Matches are played during Match Weeks. Match Weeks take place after a Voting Week. Voting Weeks take place on theSGL.com where the community will select the team(s) to play in King of the Hill (two teams the first week/one all other weeks unless the current KotH Steps down or loses by default). Once a voting week ends, the team(s) with the most votes will play on Monday night of the following week (Match Week). The following week, voting will resume on Partner-site and the process is repeated throughout the King of the Hill event.

Q: What is a Steam ID? How do I input/change mine?
A: A Steam ID is a unique identification number assigned to each Steam account (required to play Counter-Strike: 1.6). In order to play in the SteelSeries King of the Hill tournament, you must have the correct Steam ID input in your profile. This is requested during registration.

Q: Where should I go for support issues?
A: IRC #theSGL on Quakenet and query an admin. By mail to mail@theSGL.com or by joining our voice chat ventrilo server details of which can be requested from an OP in our IRC channel.

Q: Are there any Age restrictions on the tournament?
A: No

Q. What do ACTIVE, WAITING, & PENDING Status Indicated?
A: See below for a description of each.

Active List: An Active team has met the minimum player requirement to compete and are teams currently in for the Partner-site voting queue.

Waiting List: Waiting List teams are those that have reached the minimum player requirement, but are not yet in the Partner-site voting queue (generally added the following week unless the queue is deemed full).

Pending List: Pending List teams are those that have not reached the minimum player requirement and are therefore not yet eligible to participate.
