Condition Zero : IMPACT!

Posted by sgl Uzi on 29th Sep 2007 @ 12:06am

And now for something completely different. If you combine Condition Zero with old, old "Charges Only" (CO) rules you have a new kind of event and coming this Wednesday we have for you the first IMPACT! one night event for Condition Zero. Much in the same way that "Online Heroes" events will bring a varied series of events to 1.6 - IMPACT will attempt the same for CZ and give you something a little different from time to time.

A brief rundown on "CO" rules then for those of you unfamiliar with the term. First off you do not play for a set number of rounds, instead you play for twenty minutes as CT and twenty minutes as T.  The winner is decided by the number of rounds the team scores as Terrorist only. No rounds won as CT count towards your total. What may at first seem either madness or simplicity itself will give rise to some deep thought as the concept begins to come together in your mind. There is a lot of scope of invention in this kind of match and we look forward to seeing it in action.

It will soon become apparent that the enemy is not in fact the opposition but instead it is the clock. Whether you are a Terrorist trying to cram as many rushes into the twenty minuts as possible or a CT doing their best to drag out the time and make the opposition waste precious seconds at every opportunity. Once you add that a Terrorist may not kill themselves on purpose you may often find that a single T can chase a heavily armed pack of CT's around a map for a couple of minutes trying to get them to kill him only to find they make him waste time in a round he cannot win.

lots of tactics in this one guys and there will no doubt be a lot of teams picking up some of the more delicate strategies as the night progresses. Just don't leave that bomb ticking too long before you start that last second defuse - I remember that backfiring a couple of times in the past...

SkillTracker will be in use for this event and all rounds will count towards your personal stats. The first sixteen teams with five eligible players on their roster will be accepted into this event on a first come first served basis. To apply, go to the CZ tournaments page.

*Please ensure you have your time zone set up in your control panel correctly and view the match fixtures directly to see the fixtures displayed in your local time preference. Time referred to in news is London zone.
