SGL Summer Slam

Just a post to say no matter what anyone thinks of the SGL LAN organization and what happened down there, we should give a big thanks to Uzi and Co. My team and I spoke to him after the game and he gave us the sincerest apology I have ever heard about what happened and seemed genuinely pissed off/gutted that it hadn't gone as envisioned.

So just a quick note to say thank you very much for what I thought eventually turned into an awesome LAN.

What's everyone else's thoughts on what happened? Keep it clean guys.

at first it was a bit of a shambles but once uzi sorted it out wen we could use our own equipment tings started going alot more smoother overall apart from the problems wit the pc's every now n then it was a good weekend

i managed to thank uzi in the inn

It wasn't SGL's fault because of all the problems!

it was omega sektor AND they were all proper arrogant... How do they expect top teams to attend their gaming center for huge tournaments if they can't use their own equipment... If this happens at IG6/WCG or what ever i'm not attending

I give SGL a HUGE thanks in getting our equipment going, having a place to stay having a great watch at that lil boyfriend and girlfriend fight and having great games!

It was hilarious how they thought we would just suffice with their equipment.

An actual quote from one of the Omega Sektor staff (just for laughs, I found the staff to be very helpful most of the time):-

Me : 'Even when I set my sensitivity to 0.1 in game, my crosshair still point to the sky when i move it more then one inch at a time'
O/S : 'Your just going to have to deal with it'

lol i couldnt connect to games online n they said the same thing but they was helpful some times also

I'm still here and trying to pass time so I thought I'd chime in.

Firstly, what on Earth happened to the free party on the Friday night? 3 quid each and big long queue for membership...yet hardly anyone was to be found inside, let alone dancing girls and an open bar (it was explained to us that the bar shut at 9:30pm L0L; but after asking for a refund and having to go back to reception twice we eventually managed to get a round in..but not the other people at the bar, seemingly because they didn't ask for a refund).

So this didn't exactly bode well for the weekend and when we turned up to OS on the Sat morn to a huge queue, to bag inspections, to not enough PCs, to not allowed to use own equipment, to people getting barred for swearing etc. tensions were at a peak and ppl were being unreasonable on all sides...OS Staff, SGL Admins occasionally and most certainly gamers (VERY difficult customers) all contributed in some way to the perception that it was an unmitigated disaster.

But then, almost suddenly, the OS staff became much more co-operative and less antagonistic, the SGL guys were obviously doing their best and gamers became happy just to sit at a PC. I wouldn't say the rest of the weekend went off without a hitch, but it definitely wasn't as bad as expected and indeed, could have been. Games were played and fun was had for the most part. And for that we thank the SGL Admins obviously...but also the OS Staff, who aren't as bad as they are made out (even the bouncers became semi-decent).

almost got barred from OS when that tech guy was acting cocky and i raged "are u fcking taking the piss mate" took me to the incharge who i knew coz i was talking to him while having a fag so things were alright....basically after playing the 1st game without headfones i was raging and he said "ive to take out the whole CPU and replace it and i cant do it bla bla told him have u even tried changing the headfones? he said ermmm no" then i asked him to open the PC which are in the grill bits so his answer was " i dont have the keys" told him wht kind of PC needs a Key to open? bascially it needed a thin instrument to get through the grill sigh...

but overall i enjoyed it, have to say blizzard did an insane job!

-CD Key code not valid(on cod4) O/S Hit f5 loads Oo(second time down there adam demanded they went up and helped me, they got pissed off so just logged me as an admin xD)
-Air con not working was gay..

overall it was a good laugh and SGL staff did well IMO

Lots of respect to all the admins, they did a good job, dont let it be so that this lan causes there to be no-more lans, i still want to lan with sgl

1 of the guys who got barred tried to smuggle alcohol in then actually cried, and ppl threatened to be thrown out if they shouted but gj sgl wasnt bad

I didn't find it bad at all, had some fun, pc's i were on were bad, some reason whatever i tried got mouse lag and <60fps but still managed to kill a few people
