mate the papers do not stop prattling on about it. this is likely to be unpopular but in my opinion if anything they are given too much respect.
fair play to the people who didnt have any other prospects and went to the army but i have very little respect for the armed forces as a whole particularly when you see how squaddies behave when out and about, they'd sooner get in a punch up with their own countrymen as any iraqi. a far cry from past generations.
people say 'you'll say that until you need them' but when am i likely to need em? i haven't so far in almost 23 years and if the government stopped liberating countries that are nothing to do with me there'd be no need for this hand-wringing, 'our brave boys' rubbish that the likes of lorraine kelly can't stop going on about.
fact is none of em are doing it 'for our country' cos the country is hardly in jeopardy because of this 'war'. like everyone else who works they are there for the money. the danger they face i can appreciate, however so does that bloke who goes up and changes wires on pylons so all of us can have electricity, you don't see him lauded a national hero.
tl;dr
