Yo guys i brought a brand new system from overclockers 2 weeks ago and for some reason mainly only in wow but on occasion in cs and css the pc reboots itself.

specs
abit ip35 pro mobo
Core 2 duo e8400 oced to 3.60 ghz
gforce 8800 gtx
2 gig ocz reaper ram oced to 1000 mhz
windows xp 32 bit
the cpu is cooled by that freezer thing that sleek always goes on about

using coretemp both cores never exceed 50 degrees so im sure there not over heating with there lowest temp at idle from roughly 10 - 18. The gpu never exceeds 65 degrees in game under load either.

Now thing is its not the ram ive tried one stick in one stick out and it does it either way. There both in the proper slots aswell ie the blue slots on the mobo. How ever if i run orthos and stress the ram it cant take more then a few seconds before a reboot. The cpu can go on all day, I ntried the same thing with the spare ram i have and it still does it so im sure the fault is either the mobo or a bad install somewere along the lines as when the system arrived it had nothing installed no drivers or anything. Ano sleek tried to help me before on this but i dident give a good explantion as to what was going on. The system by the way can run all day and play all me other games all day without a reboot ie frontline fuel of war all on extra will run for hours. Any help would be kool guys.

wtf is this.. make a new section on the forums for me and sleek? haha

Download Memtest and run it overnight.. if u get any errors at all.. your rams borked ;<<

it sounds like an odd one...thing is.. stress tests load the ram full of data.. and if thers a section of your ram thats dodgy.. itl fook up..

is there anyway u can try any more ram? (other than the spare..)

Btw.. try it with stock settings instead of overclocked.. overclocking puts stress on the motherboard aswel as the components.

Put settings to stock speed and try, if it fucks up, go try memtest

kk keith how do i revert stuff to clock as this came pre oced. so i aint got a clue i just tried it with a brand new matched pair off crucial dominator ram i have lying about got rams off all sorts here me bro works for a dist company for crucial,,, anyways its still the same and will still fail. I will try memtest later on but i was told before its because its oced and the cache might not be able to cope or summing im dumb with this stuff mate so any help would be kool

ahhh sorry i thought u built it, if it came pre OC'd it shud be ok.. (not pushed too far) err.. cache? ;/

only thing that springs to mind is the memory is fooked.. thing is.. its not an initial problem as in.. the pc doesnt turn on or the gfx doesnt work.. its when ur playing games which effectivly cud be a million and 1 things.. drivers, OS setup, Game setup, components, temperatures, specific files.. and to check all of them wud take a while.. haha

Try memtest and we can see where to head from there on..

Maybe the powersupply is fooked? when under load, it draws more power from the PSU and it cant handle it?

can u test with a diff psu?

(i know its annoying.. but itl strike another problem off the list)

btw

Right click on My Computer, click on Properties, click on Advanced, click on Settings under Startup and Recovery, take the check out of Automatically Restart, click OK. Reboot your system

when it crashes, it could come up with BSOD and give you an error, write it down and post it here if u get BSOD.

Watch out for to low Vdimm on the mem sticks tho. 2,1V or 2,2V should do it,
Default Vdimm is around 1,8.

Have you reverted to default settings in the bios? You need to do this first. Your running overclocked and if it isn't orthos stable and your PC is rebooting then either your CPU, motherboard or RAM can't handle the current configuration you have it in.

CAUTION : BEFORE YOU DO THIS, ENSURE YOU HAVE ANOTHER PC WITH WHICH TO ACCESS THE INTERNET WITH SO THAT IF IF FOR SOME REASON YOUR PC NO LONGER BOOTS TO WINDOWS I CAN TELL YOU WHY AND GET IT RUNNING AGAIN!

As you PC just start up tap the delete key. Now I'm guessing your motherboard uses the Phoenix BIOS, this means you'll need to go over to load fail safe defaults, press enter then select yes when it asks if you are sure.

Then you'll need to hit enter on save and exit and your machine will restart. See if it restarts now. Report back when done.
