Right, well Internet Service Providers (ISP) are changing all the time with their packages/deals & well cons if you like lol. The service on one seems to last month or two then suddenly there is a better one?
Basically what I want to know is,
1) The best ISP you have ever had?
2) Recommend them out of __/10
3) What are speeds like? PEAK/OFF-PEAK?
4) What is the connection like? Does it cut out regularly?
Im currently on PIPEX which at first was great in my area but then getting worse, so I thought after the problems with BT,VM,AOL & others Ive been on I need to find one that is fast, reliable and just good!!
Please recommend some. Im in the South east so any suggestions much appreciated

i was with plus.net who were pretty good always had a full speed connection but kept disconnecting on upgrades. good customer service. 8/10
with talktalk now (free broadband) 8mb, get up to 9meg sometimes. 10/10 so far

Apart from obviously uni connection being perfect my home line isn't far off!
Virgin media (was blueyonder/telewest etc when I got it)
10/10
Started at 512kb in 2003 and has since been upgraded to 4mb
Has probably gone down 10 times since 2003, never for more than a few hours. Ping is always perfect in CS and can download full speed at anytime

I have been on VM was on 8 meg, nothing but problems
when it was on was great! but more times than not was off.In my house I think there is a problem with the DNS its wierd, its like there isnt enough juice as it were to power/keep the DNS up so it goes down. Just need a decent ISP and if that doesn't work ill shoot myself lol

Im on the 20 meg service but regarding the guy with 92bks upload mate i get 700 - 800 kbs upload and 2.6 - 2.8 mbs dload. Anyways ping never much higher then 10 to most uk servers and 20 - 30 to most euros, even managed a 47 ping on a server in texas not to long back on esea although mostly it hovers around 80 - 90.

only had a major dc and was fucked 4 6months ( 50+ ping ) but was down 2 network maintenance+ the fact that the switch board got struck by lighting in the same week they had to replace everything

I just ordered Virgin Media 20mb, its coming this weekend I believe.
Bt was starting to piss me off my mum was paying bare and I was getting 1.5 meg .
i had quite a few disconnections and in cs u ALWAYS lag out on servers when u connect and hav to reconnect after waiting a good minute down to the shit bt home hub i believe load of bs hardware there giving u there.
The biggest shitter was that my speeds were goin as low as 150 kbps down, it was un usesable and that was recently so I ended that shit connection.

The first provider I ever had was virgin back in 2003 and have to say back in them 512kb days with a modem it was pretty good lets hope their 20mb cable is just as good!
