Just wondering if i went and spent 400 quid GTX 280 which seems to be the best card at the moment, i wouldn't, but if i did with my pc specs: amd 4400x2, 3gb ram and at the moment a 3450. Would i experience any bottleknecking where my pc is not letting my gfx card run at full potential/games are slowing down due to the rest of the pc, or would i be ok? Obv would need a new psu...

I'm running a Phenom 9850 X5 w/ the ATi 4870 w/ 2 gig of 1066MHz ddr2 it's breezes through everything cost me bout £450 sans case hdd etc.
Couldn't afford the quad extreme but dunno if CBA upgrading as this is stilll a fucking beast.

Oh yeah, if you buy the HIS one off Overclockers you get a cool little torch/spiritlevel/screwdriver for your pc. Big grin

Ask Keith, I wouldn't know Nvidia were the best for a while before this ATi card. I never buy Nvidia.

Mine? 300fps constant on tf2 & css, 100 on cod4 full, 50 on crysis full.

N if not we've already cleared that his will bottleneck.

Depends really, its also down to your PCI-E version as well, as the 2.0 standard has 2.5 more gb's of bandwidth to play around with.

The 4870x2 is the best single card solution to buy, but the gtx 280 performs better in crysis (probally due to the relentless driver updates for the game, and was the main reason i bought one cause i love that game Big grin). I would suggest rather than going out splashing out on something brand new tht ur pc may or may not handle, save up for a couple of months and buy yourself a new mobo/cpu/ram. Expecially as intel are bringing out a new series of cpu on the 45nm process.

Good thing about the 4870x2 is you won't need your heating on in the winter Smile

Albeit, i'm particularly interested in newer benchmarks as nvidia have churned out some new drivers claiming 15% performance increases and physx support.
