Woah woah woah! The argument wasnt the cheap dig i made, but was about certain players influencing teams seasons! But you fail to mention any of that!

So you think it's a coincidence then that Chelseas dip in form coincides with Drogba getting maleria (typo) and Malouda going off boil comparing to his early season form? Something is clearly going on behind the scenes also to do with Wilkins but if Chelseas top players were firing on all cylinders then they wouldnt be in as much trouble.

Out of interest from your own teams perspective, who have been your key players in leading you to the top of the table this season? And dont say everyone.

Edit: We'll continue in the morning as i'm off to bed to dream about January the 3rd 2010 :D

I would say it's a matter of there being a couple of stand-out players, more of a case of a player stepping up to the plate in absense of a player that usually would be doing the job.

Park and Chicharito have single handedly got Utd about 12 points this season. Was anyone expecting that? The only thing good about Man Utd this season is their overwhelming mediocracy doesn't seem to actually have an obvious weakness.

i don't mind other teams fans picking holes in united because obviously not every team is perfect, and banter goes backwards and forwards. i just depise people who hate united without any logical reason ... e.g. hudson on here

and there are plenty of them about ... until city got rich, a good weekend was if united got beat. they disregarded their own reuslt entirely. i find it baffling!

It's what i've grown up doing mate. I'm a Leeds fan. All through school there was always the rivalry of Leeds and Manu fans. We used to always insult each others teams - its what rivalry is. No Leeds fan in the world would have a good thing to say about Manu, i'm no different. Just like your fans would never have a good thing to say about us.

I feel sorry for you if you don't understand that. You sound like just a football fan in general, not a Manu fan. I dont give a sh1t what other teams do, all i care about is Leeds United and them winning week in week out. I will watch other football games weekly, and enjoy some games, but when it comes to the grand scheme of things I LOVE being a Leeds fan and am passionate about it.

I always wanted manu to lose european games even though they were english, and im sure if you ask a liverpool fan if theyd support everton in europe theyd say the same.

If you have only supported manu since 05 i could understand your naivety, but Leeds v Manu is always a feisty fixture, even Ferguson understands and says that.

just depends on the environment you grow up with lepino, not as if the grand majority of man utd fans are in manchester so they aren't going to be put under ceaseless attack by fans of their rivals and thus gonna develop this us-against-them mentality that donkey shit leeds and man city have

so you are better football fan because you absolutely despise mancheser united fans, without any particular reasoning that would make sense outside of the world of football, and laugh at tragedy and death just to get one over us? great ...

you are a complete tool and everything that is wrong with football fans. im all for rivalry but complete mongs like you don't know when to stop. i hate liverpool, i watch every game hoping for a loss but thats it. i laugh at the supporters when its going wrong. i don't throw around personal insults. its based purely on football. if you wanna go punch a guy in the face over a game of football go do it, but don't question my support when you have the mental capacity of a cabbage

The only position we really need to fill is another winger with Valencia out, we've already bought a goalkeeper. Can't see who else we'd benefit from bringing in without wasting money til the end of the season.

No you mong, I'm saying its passionate fans like myself who understand what football is really about. You are just a general football fan, a different type. Thats my point. So if you dont understand abour rivalry between teams, then you wont understand why i hate man u. Go google Leeds manu rivalry to understand yourself.

For the record i do have friends who support manu. i dont hold it against them.. and im far from a thug, i just hate manu. Why do you actually think im a thug???!!!

PS. whats your "logical" reason for hating Liverpool then?!!!

O'shea, fabio, rafael > neville. Neville is at best third string rb. Rafael was rested and o'shea was injured today.

mindfield does need to be bulked though, partly because scholes and giggs are too old and partly because I'm starting to cringe whenever fletcher and carrick touch the ball.

Yes, but we don't need to do that in January, Giggs and Scholes could play out til the end of the season easily, and as was just said, rafael and O'shea have already 'replaced' Neville, and today fabio showed that he can play at right back if needs be too.

Pen?
Questionable contact on the pen, but probs a pen with the letter of the law.

Rafael vs Gerrard (Tackles)
Rafael studs = facing ground
Gerrards = over carricks ankle

Think we've done wonderfully without 4/5 of our major big game players (vds, vidic, park, rooney, scholes)
Thought carrick played quite well for a change, simple stuff time and time again.
Evra and giggs link up was great and berbatov seemed to have an all round good game, holding up etc.

Still would of won if pen wasn't given, summit like 10 attempts on target, passing it around in a low gear, with a long season firing on 3 fronts, pld it smart.

Fergies squad rotation nearly always pays off, be it the coaches, the experience, w/e goes on at utd behind the scenes, long may it continue! :)
Players like rafael and hernandez jus prove we dont need big name signings as our coaches will mould them into world beaters sooner rather than later.
Great win with an away trip to spurs next up, we're in a really good position atm.

at the moment in time our squad is great. but each game you can see we lack that 1-2 players. defensively this season we have been alot better then last season(with our full 4) rafael is turning in to a great rb and hes only young fergie said hes hoping to sign 1 player in janruary personally feel we like a CAM with a eye for goal.
with carrick/fletcher/anderson there all decent passers but they just lack goals. end of season were going to need a winger to replace giggs, although valencia will be back. a cam with goals in him and possibly a striker aswel but maybe a target man

Wouldn't get ahead of yourself on the youth policy. Utd spent like £12m on Ronaldo, £18m on Nani, £15m on Anderson, £18m on that Ljajic and thingy whatever his name was who flopped, £7m on Hernandez plus future fees, £7m on Bebe, £18m on Carrick, £16m on Valencia. It seems that rather than grow them you DO indeed need big signings and to splash loads of cash to bring them in. Ronaldo paid off but you can't believe that's going to happen every time. There's a reason you're in such crazy amounts of debt! Not to mention I can't remember Hernandez actually touching the ball today.

Really great coaching staff in terms of the mentality your players have though. Wenger could do with putting a few hidden cameras around the training ground.

Sir Alex Ferguson has performed a U-turn on his transfer ambitions for this month by admitting he could make a single signing at Man Utd.

So because the players aren't from Salford and came from the continent they don't count as youth products?

In the past, clubs like United would pick their youth from the British Isles (and often pay small "transfer fees" to their local clubs for their services), there is now more free movement in the EU, and much more opportunity for youngsters to go and work at foreign clubs.

United took David Beckham from Spurs for a fee when he was a teenager. Essentially the "youth talent" was a kid they'd poached from a club in London. If they do the same to a kid from Sporting (like with Cronaldo) it's pretty much the same thing, given that EU citizens can move freely and work in any EU country they wish.

There is a lot more pressure on the big clubs to bring in more developed players because they don't have much opportunity to blood youngsters. So they seem to be signing 19/20 year olds as opposed to 16/17 year olds more, and looking further afield.

£7million these days is small change in terms of a transfer fee, especially for a big club, especially for the likes of Hernandez who has scored such vital goals.

Whether that can be termed a "youth policy" or not, they have done pretty well tbh.
