Post them things that happen during daily stuff that do your head in!

Heres mine:

On Saturday I went to Tesco with a mate which is about 7 miles from my house. We were having a BBQ before the Haye fight so we got the usual burgers etc and a fair amount of beer. We got the till(my mate was paying) and he got ID’d not unusual so he got his ID out and showed his proof of age(24) and then she asked me for ID….. Now I’m not big hairy man but I’m 24 and don’t look 18 but I understand they now have the challenge 65 age thing which is a crock of shit. I didn’t take any ID as I knew my mate had his and he was paying I was just accompanying him I told her I don’t have ID as I’m not paying for it, he is. She tells me we are obviously together and she isn’t going to serve him because of this, I tell her she is taking the piss here HE IS OLD ENOUGH to buy it if he was to buy it and then give it to me then that’s his problem not there’s they are selling it to an adult who is of age.

By this time she has pressed the panic button or whatever it is and the supervisor comes over apparently she has no commonsense either. I explain the situation and she says its policy. I then ask her what happens when my mum goes shopping with her 13 year old son and buys wine/beer etc and why she is allowed to buy alcohol when he is clearly underage and they are clearly together? She then tells me it is completely different situation I said how can it be? What if I have ID and take a minor am I not allowed to buy it? We are fully grown men who could have children of our own however if we are together and one of us doesn’t have ID the other cannot purchase alcohol. She could not answer me and just looked at me dumb after a crowd has gather we slam out stuff down and go. I drive all the way home pick my ID up and then drive back do the exact same shop(which has prob only just put back on the shelf this time I have ID and we buy it.

Now don’t get me wrong I understand the need for ID and some people looks can differ to their age but this was a joke and tbh it’s age discrimination, they would serve my mum or dad if they was with me but trust but won’t trust my 24 year old mate. I think I’m going to put a complaint in it has really pissed me off this it is just a joke now.

Like I said it isn’t the getting ID’d I understand that it is the bias against young adults, they wouldn’t think twice if it was a parent or someone older fucking unbelievable.

Rant over.

i got ID'd coz i was standing behind in the same queue as my friend, he was buying port for his mum and I had some breakfast essentials, I was like do u think out of all of drinks we will drink port at 12 in afternoon, i just got my stuff went outside and he went on a different counter so he got served.

On the other hand just yesterday I got shouted by a customer that I served her 14 year old daughter alcohol I told her thats impossible, I asked her what time was she in checked through CCTV and she didnt even come in the shop, turns out some guy bought cider for her daughter but she kept arguing that why I served that guy, I told her that guy is around 30 what do u think I should play detective and investigate who he is buying for? She still wouldnt understand and said she will complain to the police, told her to fuk off as its not my responsibility what happens on the road.

EXACTLY, you served someone who is of age and they have gone and provided it to a minor, that is not your fault you have done everything right and if the person who bought it wants to do that then that is his problem. But as long as you have sold it to the someone who is of age then i don't see how any problem.

exact same thing happend to me, except my brother was buying who was only 18 and looked young and i was 22 and looked older than he did. We just walked out came back in and went to another till seperately lol, the woman saw what we had done as we were leaving and snarled at us.
To me its ignorance, they should use some discression and common sense, we are buying from them and if they offer an unhelpful service then it doesnt attract you to use them again.

Tesco are the worse for this, I was buying a load of food and alcohol to take to a festival and they accused me of buying it for a bunch of kids stood outside... I ended up leaving about £50 worth of beer and £50 worth of food on the till and fucked off to Morrisons.

I feel your pain! Companies have stupid policies to protect themself, but at the end of the day persons (and companies) who serve alcohol should not, in my opinion, be held accountable for other peoples stupidity anyway.

When i was working in oxford i'd go to a local sainsburys every day or 2 to either buy food/cigarettes/alcohol - couldnt be arsed to do the old 'weekly shop' thing - 99% of the time it would be the same cashier who served me, but sometimes it would be someone new and getting ID'd by these people didn't bother me. The one time i actually went in leaving my ID in the office she ID'd me. I asked her why, as she had served me the day before and she just said it's their policy to ID people who looked under 21(?) and that someone had been sacked a day or two previously for not ID'ing. I asked if she remembered serving me, and she did. so basically the company that are held responsible (sainsburys in this case) do not trust their staff to make a judgement and would much rather prefer to piss their customers off by deciding you are old enough one day, but not the next.

and i totally agree about the 'being with someone who doesn't have ID' when buying alcohol thing. when i was in Sweden i forgot my ID so my friend just bought it for me! they do things properly over there! :D

As a rule of thumb, everyone is shite. After working in bars for years though I've got a few pet hates The one that occurs the most is these pricks who come up to the the bar and say "Just a pint please mate." Fair enough. You go off and pour their drink. You hand it over, ask for his money and then they'll come out with; "and a coke". Fair enough. I trot off and pour them some coke. Return. "Got any crisps?". FFS. Usually by this point I'll ask if that's everything and then a lot of them will continue to do it ONE FUCKING THING AT A TIME. Not only do humans have the memory capacity to handle quite long orders I've got a pissing till in front of me to scribe it all down. These people are absolute scum and need to be euthanised.

Every weekend for me that, sometimes I just walk off and leave them standing there.

I'm 22 in Aug.... I've never ONCE been served for alchohol, and I get ID'd every time I buy ciggy's from the shop even though we go in there near enough every day. The biggest piss take is my passport was stolen so now I have to fork out another £80 to replace it. Reported it to the police but they didn't do a damn thing did they, infact it's the only time i've ever stepped foot in a police station.
