The budget is 500 pounds max.

I want the game to be able to run World of Warcraft / Source / BF3.

Don't Include a hard drive though i can use my old one. Also if someone could point me in the direction of a Decent Monitor for gaming that would be great

bennoman's always got a lot on his plate so sleek would probably be a better guy to ask

for 500 you should be able to get
sandybridge i5
8gb ddr3 memory
600w 80%+ psu
nvidia gtx 560ti
sandybridge mobo
decent case
whatever optical you need
your old hd
if you build yourself, which i recommend, it's pretty straight forward and there's plenty of guides on t'internet

500 quid on the base unit, will get you a nice little rig to say the least.

opt or an i5/i7 series.
4-6gb DDR3 ram
hdd you've got (hoping its at least sata)
good mobo (asus i always go for)
600/620watt psu should sort you out (depending on gfx demands)
just check out what deal's they got on what gfx card and opt for the best deal.

Fractal Design Core 3000 - £44.80
Corsair 600W Gamer Series - £59.69
Intel Core i3-2100 - £89.72
MSI H61M-P22 B3 - £40.07
Corsair XMS3 1333MHz DDR3 - £34.98
Samsung DVDRW - £12.99
Asus GTX 560Ti Direct CUII - £167.92

Total = £450.17

Use the 50 quid saved towards a decent monitor.

Possible changes - The i3 / H61 combo will play BF3 and anything less demanding with ease, especially paired with the 560Ti, however the H61 mobo is only mATX, so you could swap the case out for an mATX case and save a bit of space. I like fractal design, and there are plenty of mATX versions, but pick a case of your choice.

8GB ram is more than you will need in the next few years if all you do is game, you could drop it to 4GB to save some money, but 8GB is cheap so why not.

As you can see, the 560Ti is the main part of the budget, and is maybe overkill for the games you play, a lesser card can still play BF3 (I use a 6870 and can max it out), so you could drop the card down a few steps, and bump up to an i5 / H67 or Z68 CPU / MOBO combo. However the GFX is most important for games, and the i3 can play them better than most Quad core AMD's and old Core 2 Quad's.

You can probably drop to a 500 - 550W PSU and save a few quid, but 600 is recommended to be future proof and more than you need for a single card.

The limitations of the H61 mobo chipset are most will not support USB3, and none will support SATAIII so you can restricted to SATAII speed for any future SSD upgrades. H67 will support both USB3 and SATAIII, but the cheapest on ebuyer is virtually the same price as a Z68 - so if you wanted to bump up the mobo you may as well go Z68.

The limitations of the i3 is that you can't overclock it, so putting it on anything above a H67 is a waste, unless you are going to upgrade to a K series i5 / i7 further down the line.

Remember if you decide to go mATX on the case, and think you may upgrade to Z68 / i5 later on, most Z68 boards are ATX rather than most H61 being mATX.

If you can answer the following we can help you choose which is best for you:

1) Do you do anything other than gaming?
2) When are you likely to upgrade next?
3) Will you be putting an SSD in any time soon, and if so are you happy with SATAII speed rather than SATAIII?

Cheers.

What is your email address?

I use ebuyer usually, I will save the basket with your email address and it should notify you of it.

I made a change to the initial spec I posted, I swapped out the MSI H61M board with a Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-DS3, this is an ATX board which will open up your options later to add a SATAIII SSD, use USB3 devices, add a second graphics card for SLI but also stick an i5 2500k in for the ultimate gaming performance.

As you would now be using a Z68 mobo, I up'd the ram from 1333MHz to 1600MHz G.Skill Ripjaw's as it is only £5 more.

Adding that mobo brings the total to £484.35 so still within budget, if you added the 2500k in now it would go over (to roughly £565).

Current Spec:

Fractal Design Core 3000 - £44.80
Corsair 600W Gamer Series - £59.69
Intel Core i3-2100 - £89.72
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 - £69.23
G.Skill Ripjaw 1600MHz 8GB DDR3 - £40.00
Samsung DVDRW - £12.99
Asus GTX 560Ti Direct CUII - £167.92

Total: £484.35

Drop me your email address in a PM and I will have the basket sent to your email.

I'm pretty up to date on this stuff because I just bought a very similar pc. Dean Winchester is spot on with his advice, but I might add my 2 cents.

The Z68AP-D3 is only crossfire compatible (not SLI) so if you're planning on doing that in the future you might want to go with an ATI card (for your budget probably 6870). It'd also make sense to go with a slightly cheaper card because Nvidia are about to release their new range - rumours suggest they perform very well and at the least it'll knock down the prices of other cards.

If you have any spare cash, I think the upgrade to i5 2500k is worth it. At the moment it's overkill for most games, but it should futureproof you for a while meaning that you only need to buy a newer (or second) graphics card to keep pace with releases. Plus on a Z68 board with a £20 CPU Cooler it should overclock easily to ~4.5ghz. But as Dean suggested, if your budget is strictly £500, then this is probably the best place to make a saving.

Lastly, don't forget the cost of windows!

Well, Then make the budget 600 Quid. Thats all i can go. Can you put together the correct components that will make it a beast? I.e the updated Processor and or the graphics card or MOBO..

Please dean or necro :D

Saved to your account on ebuyer that I did for you. Sign in, go to Account then click "My Quotes" on the left - I upped the CPU to the 2500k, and switched out the mobo for an Asus P8Z68-V LX which I believe is Crossfire or SLI - so your total comes to around £570, spend the extra on an aftermarket cooler for some OC goodness if you want!

Alternatively, as Blob said, drop the gcard down to a 6870, which will save you another 40 quid, then add a second in crossfire later. Sup to you.

@Blob thanks for the heads up, I hadn't read enough about that board evidently! :D
