Can anyone help me out here? it isn't a power option, i've searched all over my ati and display settings and cannot fix it.
Basically, any time i'm on anything remotely dark on my laptop, the screen automatically dims itself (and it's not like it changes brightness, cause when I press the brightness key it tells me its full brightness)
It's doing my fucking head in, literally anything thats dark, even now with the dark red background its decided it wants to dim itself.
Its a HP Pavilion Dv6, I can't find anything on google. Just wondering if anyone can help me out?
It does this on every power plan, doesn't matter if it's plugged in to power or if its running off the battery.

Won't this be a BIOS setting? :)
my samsung laptop does something similar when the battery gets low, there's a setting in BIOS under 'display' I think, I can check when I get home later.

few mins googling seems to suggest you have a samsung monitor with MagicBright enabled. get MagicTune to modify these settings, it's the same principle as OSD settings but you can't do it on screen.
download here:

would this be the same with my tv? as my tv goes brighter when entering full screen modes, but is dimm when just using basic features on desktop. It isn't the pc as it's been connected to other monitors and no issues, but can't seem to find the option on the TV anywhere :(
