Ignorant question from very old player

I was on youtube the other day and stumbled across an old video of one of the (very old, probably original) players from Team 3D killing a lot of people on a pub server and it piqued my interest to see whether 1.6 was still played... so this is a random question, but what is the main version CS played online now?

In fact, is CS even one of the top online shooters anymore? It used to be the be all and end all... I used to play a hell of a lot (never in brilliant, but decent teams), and I just realised that I miss it, nothing else I've played has really come close since IMO! I stopped playing probably about the same time Source came out due to real life taking over, but I'm sorely tempted to reinstall 1.6, fire up nnscript and get involved a bit again if anybody still actually plays at all.....

UK scene is dead and will never come back. Would not bother installing it.

I noticed UKT and CSGN (and most clans from when I played) have disappeared... and there are a lot less divisions in SGL than there used to be.

What do most people play nowadays?

I think most people are just kicking around either playing CSGO BETA or waiting on it's release. A lot of people here play LoL and other games like that, which requires too much thinking for my liking! :D

I've tried COD and Battlefield both of which didn't fulfil what I seek in a game - you just have to spray and pray, whilst running around like a headless chicken, not my cup of tea.

CSGO should bring CS back to life and leagues.. well, I'm gonna be backing it.

I too find myself missing cs, I'd imagine there's a few people out there missing the ol' game and waiting for it to spring back into life but everyone's waiting for others to come back before they do themselves so it's a lose, lose haha, only use thesgl for the football forum these days =/
