1.6 dropped off the radar about 2 years ago, didnt WCG drop 1.6 2 years ago? Pretty much died then im my eyes.

(also for us, SGL dropped 1.6 over a year ago too..)

thats not the problem lol. cs started to die when the new generation of kids stopped pc gaming and got consoles and started playing COD. alot of kids on cod have never heard of counter-strike. for cs:go to take off it would need alot of old cs and css played to come back to the scene which wont happen, apparently cs:go is cross platforming? ifso it might get some interest but it wont come near to the new cod sales

Sounds ambitious, but there is already quake live which launches from your browser and is free. Also if it's going to be exactly like quake then it won't get the cs fans excited

no game will change it man, PC FPS is dying out. people go to console for FPS, even at a competitive level. I still find it more fun to play FPS on PC but COD is pretty much single handedly wiping out hope, despite the fact it is an absolute abomination of a game. theres tons of great FPS' around on PC, lots of free to play ones too but it just doesn't make a difference

CS:GO feels too much like source to me, which will hinder its success.

agree with Jager's comment. PC gaming is alive and well but RTS's and MOBA's are taking over... most likely because they are much more fun to watch, much more accessible, much more strategic, have higher investment and are marketed really well (even by the pros themselves, streaming is becoming such a big thing!)
