All I can see this as is, CS is dying and they're trying to create somewhere for all the players to go. This isn't going to bring the CS and CSS communities together, because quite frankly it's a step back in CSS. Only benefits is that the maps may give more fps. This is basically an alternative for CS players who don't want to move onto CSS but want to keep playing CounterStrike.

if people want to keep on playing 1.6 then i'm sure they will, and there will always be players. if cspm feels like 1.6 but is a step forward and takes off for competitions world wide then its likely most 1.6 players will switch. as for css players, theres two categories - the ex-1.6 players who only changed to source because of competetive teams switching and it being "the future" who will most certainly switch to promod, and then the players who started off playing with css - who will stay playing css for fear of being destroyed by the 1.6 players, thats not me saying css players are less skilled, if the gameplay is 1.6 then obviously 1.6 players will have the upper hand.
