Gears of War II : Toned down

Gears of War II will try and avoid the bad press that recent games have garnered from the (American in particular)  vocal "moral majority"  by shipping the game with a family friendly option which will moderate the language of the in game characters and replace the gore and blood with sparks.

The game which was given a provisional "M" rating and has been given a release date of November 7th will feature these options as parental control.

The question is with the game being squarely aimed at the 15+ players is there any real point to it all. There seems less likelihood of this being prompted so parents can stop their younger teens playing this game with gore turned on but an almost certain ploy by Microsoft to be able to defend the game against the "video games are bad mmmmkay" brigade.

This isn't something they had to do since the rating system keeps everything legit , what they have done though is given themselves a way to cover their backs when the ludicrous accusation of corrupting the worlds youth are levelled at them (as they surely will be) by the killjoy moral left wing muppets.

im just playing at it. Hopefully I'll be picking up the pace real soon. Keeping it up is going to be an effort though. No sleep last two nights cos i'm doing a qualification with adobe and the only free time i have is between 1am and 6am
